Tuning Tech Service Bulletin - Yamaha Raptor 700 (2023-2024)

After extensive Dyno testing of the 2024 Raptor 700 and different fuel, exhaust, airbox, and tuning options we found something interesting. The check engine light (CEL) will intermittently flash when a rich condition is present. This does not throw a hard code that needs to be reset but will make it blink from time to time when there is a rich condition present.

The Check Engine Light

Unfortunately, the CEL does not illuminate under lean conditions which can be worse for your engine. If light illuminates and does not go away you may have another engine problem not related to fueling. To further diagnose this return machine back to stock exhaust, intake, and remove fuel tuner. If you still have CEL light illuminated you have another problem within your ECU unrelated to the fueling. If the CEL just flashes it will not affect your machines rideability or cause damage. It just means you are finding a rich spot in your tune.

The Tune

We have created a tune that works excellent on our test machine with a full and slip-on HMF exhaust and both with lid on and off. That being said these are finicky machines and if they ever reach the rich state even for a second the light will illuminate. We have found if you target that exact time when the CEL illuminates you can tune it out but just making that spot slightly less rich.

Although with exhaust and intake mods fuel is recommended, since those items will lean out your machine, it is a fine line to get proper fuel tuning and no CEL on this machine. We recommend starting with the pre-programmed setting. If an issue becomes present see which light color is illuminated (active) on the HMF Optimizer at that exact time and then back the fuel down in that color mode one click and test again. If light does not illuminate you are fine, if it does repeat. If this still does not fix the problem you may have other parameters or adjustments to your machine that we have not tuned for and may need to have a custom map tailored to your specific setup.
