We get this question quite often at HMF, and generally the answer is no. If you have a stock machine without any major modifications, other than installing an HMF exhaust system, then hooking up the HMF Fuel Controller is all you need to do.
The Optimizer comes pre-programmed with the proper fuel settings for your machine with our exhaust system. Follow the instructions when installing the optimizer to your offroad machine and place it in an area where it stays relatively dry. Once it has been proper installed, the fuel controller will begin calibrating your machine for optimum performance.
If you do make any modificaitons to your machine, like the air box lid, then fine tuning may be required. In this event, you can visit our Tech section for more settings about your model, or contact us at 866.463.7473 for assitance.
