Can Am Commander Dual 3/4 System 11-13 Outer Mount Installation Instructions

Removal

1) Tilt the bed to the dump position and disconnect the Tail Light Wire Harness and Zip Ties holding the harness to the frame.   Do not cut the zip ties as they are reusable.  (See Figure #1)

2) Lower and latch the bed.  Using (2)13MM wrenches, remove the top bolt from the bed strut.  Use (2)10MM wrenches to remove the Lower Bed Strut Bolt and spacers.  NOTE: There is a spacer in the frame channel.  Be careful not to misplace this spacer when removing the bolt.

3) Use a 13MM wrench to remove the (4) Bed Pivot Clamp Nuts.  Remove the aluminum Dog Bone Plates and lower the Pivot Clamp Halves from each side. 

4) With assistance from another person, Unlatch the bed and remove it from the vehicle.  Be careful not to lose the Upper Pivot Clamp Halves.  Set the bed aside, being careful not to damage the Pivot Clamp Carriage Bolts and the Tail Light Wire Harness.

5) Use a 10MM wrench to remove the (4) Silencer Cover Bolts and remove the Silencer Cover.

6) Use a long piece of electrical wire to remove the (4) Silencer Inlet Springs. (See Figure #2)

7) Use (2)13MM wrenches to remove the (2) Silencer Mounting Bolts.  Remove the Silencer.

8) Using a long piece of wire, remove the springs holding the “Y” pipe to the front and rear head pipes.  Remove the “Y” pipe hanger from the Rubber Mount and remove the “Y” pipe from vehicle.

9) Inspect and replace gaskets if necessary.

Installation

1) Position the “X” Collector above the drive shaft and below the Upright Frame Rails making the connection between the Front Head Pipe and Left Side Lower “X”.  Use a long piece of electrical wire to install two of the supplied “Long Neck” Springs.  Slide the Left Side Silencer onto the left of the “X” collector.  Install one supplied small spring between the Silencer inlet and “X”. (See Figure #3)

2) Position the Rear Head Extension Pipe to connect the Rear Head Pipe to the Right Side Lower “X”.  Attach the rubber hanger and install (2)of the supplied “long neck” springs at the Rear Head Pipe, and one between the “X” collector and Rear Head Extension Pipe.  

3) Install the Right Side Silencer and supplied small spring.

4) Position the supplied Silencer Mounting Brackets and install the supplied bolts, washers, and nuts. (hand tighten)  NOTE:  Original nuts and bolts will be reused on front of brackets.   

5) Take time to align and properly center the exhaust system.  Ensure clearance with drive axles and differential vent hose.  Tighten the mounting hardware then re-inspect the exhaust system and surrounding areas for proper alignment and clearance.  NOTE: HMF will not be held responsible for damage caused by improper exhaust system installation.  (See Figure #4)

6) Reinstall the bed and mounting hardware.  See images for proper limiting cable, lift strut, and hardware installation.  YOU MUST INSTALL THE TILT-LIMITING-CABLE OR THE BED MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR HMF EXHAUST AND VOID YOUR WARRANTY.(See Figure #5)

7) Connect the rear tail light harness and original zip ties.
