Quiet Core Instructions Every HMF exhaust comes with a U.S.F.S. Spark Arrestor uninstalled. The installation process for the Spark Arrestor is the same for the Quiet Core and should only take a few minutes to complete. However, if you have an Elliptical exhaust with the Euro End Cap, it'll require a slightly different procedure for installation than the standard round end caps.
Maintenance and Cleaning:
Check your spark arrestor screen from time to time to see that it is free flowing and not clogged.
The easiest way to clean the spark arrestor is to remove it from the exhaust then soak the spark arrestor in oven cleaner. Wait for a few minutes, then clean the remaining residue with a wire brush. Keeping the spark arrestor clean will increase exhaust flow and performance. (See Figure #1)
1. Make sure the exhaust system is not hot.
2. Remove the 4 (or 3) allen bolts that hold the End Cap.
3. Remove the End Cap.
4. Place the Quiet Core/Spark Arrestor in the outlet. (There is a machined lip for it to fit into)
5. Replace the End Cap.
6. Tighten the 4 (or 3) allen screws and you are done.
1. Make sure the exhaust system is not hot.
2. Remove the 4 allen bolts that hold the End Cap.
3. Identify the Quiet Core Securing Plate and remove to access the recessed area for the Quiet Core / Spark Arrestor.
4. Install the Quiet Core/Spark Arrestor into the exhaust outlet and seat it in the stepped down section.
5. Place the Quiet Securing Plate onto the exhaust.
6. Place the Euro End Cap onto the exhaust
7. Tighten the 4 allen screws. (See Figure #2)
1: Remove the 4 allen bolts for turn down. Once turn down is removed identify the 3/16" gap between the End Cap and Base. Insert a flathead screwdriver in the 3/16" gap and tap on the Screw Driver Handle to remove End Cap.(See Figure #3)
2. Place the Quiet Core inside of the outlet of the exhaust.(See Figure #4)
3: Insert the Spark Arrestor overtop of the Quiet Core.(See Figure #5)
4: Place the End Cap over top of the Spark Arrestor(See Figure #6)
5: Place the Billet Turn Down in the End Cap. Make sure the Billet Turn Down is facing the desired direction.(See Figure #7)
6. Tap the End Cap intop place and install the 4 allen bolts in a cross pattern.
