Removal

Read and understand these instructions before beginning.

Inspect all parts of your new HMF exhaust.  Ensure all parts and hardware are organized and present.

You should have some mechanical knowledge and a basic set of tools in order to complete the installation of your HMF exhaust.

Warning: Do not work on any machine with a hot exhaust!  Allow all parts to cool before working on your machine.  Place your machine in park or neutral with the parking brake engaged.

1. Using a long piece of wire disconnect the (2) springs holding the muffler to the head pipe.  Save these springs as they will be used to secure your new HMF muffler to the stock headpipe.

2. Remove the (2) bolts holding the stock heat shield to the frame.(See Figure #1)

3. Using the provided (2) M8x20x1.25 Hex Bolts, (4) ¼” Flat Washers, and (2) M8x1.25 Nylock Nuts secure the HMF muffler to the bracket under the heatshield.  Do not tighten yet.(See Figure #6)

4. Using the provided (2) M8x20x1.25 Hex Bolts and (2) 1/4” Flat Washers install the HMF muffler to the machine.  Do not tighten yet. Pay special attention to align the donut gasket on the stock headpipe with the inlet of the HMF muffler.

NOTE: It may be necessary to slightly adjust the OEM heatshield over the headpipes.  The OEM heatsheild and HMF heatshield should remain close to each other to prevent thermal transfer upward into the bed/cabin.

5. With the (2) original springs saved from the previous disassembly step connect the stock headpipe and HMF muffler using a spring puller or long piece of wire.

6. Check for proper alignment and clearance then tighten the all hardware left loose in previous steps.  (See Figure #7)
