HMF Racing Slip On Exhaust Instructions

For Models: Recon 250 (1997-2024)

Removal

WARNING

Before working on your machine make sure it is parked on a level surface with the transmission in park and/or the parking brake engaged.  Do not work on any machine with a hot engine or exhaust, allow time for all parts to cool in order to reduce the risk of burns.

1. Loosen the stock clamp that holds the silencer and head pipe together.

2. Loosen the silencer mouting bolts.

3. Brace the back of the exhaust with one hand and take the bolts the rest of the way out.

4. Pull back and twist until the silencer is removed.

5. Remove the stock gasket off of the header (it may stay in the stock exhaust).  You will no longer need it with the HMF Silencer.

Installation

1. It may be necessary to loosen the head pipe fasteners to allow some movement with the stock head pipe. (See Figure #1)

2. Slide the provided #52 T-Bolt Clamp over the end of the stock head pipe.  Then, slide the Silencer onto the Head Pipe.  Some pushing and twisting may be necessary.

3. Mount the Silencer with the provided 1/4" Flat Washer & M8x20 Hex Bolt and tighten.(See Figure #2)

4. If previously loosened, tighten the Head Pipe Fasteners.   Then, tighten the T-Bolt Clamp to secure the Silencer to the Head Pipe.(See Figure #3)

5. With most applications re-jetting/remapping is a necessity.

The final result should look like the picture below.  Enjoy your new HMF exhaust!(See Figure #4)
