This past weekend was the 7th round of the Gncc series at the oldest course on the circuit.  The John Penton track in Athens, Ohio is a true xc track.  After our arrival Friday morning, I begin walking the course.  The course had the typical Gncc obstacles including, mud, rocks, grass track, dusty sections and some mx track sections.  The heat and humidity is always a factor at this race and this year would be no different with temperatures in the upper 80's.  When the green flag dropped Saturday morning my Renegade was the first into the corner, however I was carrying too much speed and went too wide.  I went into the woods in 3rd and within 2 miles worked my way up to 2nd.  I settled in behind the leader as he had a good pace set.  I noticed my steering was getting harder and harder with what felt like the power steering unit failing.  By the 2nd lap I had fell back to 6th place.  My power steering was still gone and it continued to not work.  I pushed on into the 3rd lap and moved back into 5th place.  I maintained my pace and crossed the finish line in 5th place and 5th place overall out of 300+ racers!  Overall, considering the mechanical issues I am pleased with a top 5.  Thanks again to all of you for your continued support and prayers!  We will be back in action on  June 11th in Odessa, Ny for the Tomahawk Gncc!
