Default Optimizer tuning info

BEFORE doing any electrical installation READ and UNDERSTAND the MANUFACTURERS installation instructions completely, you DO NOT get a second chance with anything electrical if you make a mistake.
Work safe, this procedure requires you to put your hands in tight places, make sure the engine, exhaust system and surrounding areas are cold before starting the removal process.
Make sure you secure the machine in such a way that it cannot be moved or started until you have completed your work.
Re check your wire routing and OPTIMIZER box location and make certain that in no way the wires can come into contact with any moving parts or high heat source and that the OPTIMIZER box is mounted in a way as to not cause a handling problem with the machine.
YOU are responsible for the final safety check of YOUR installation.
******IF you have any questions please call HMF for information.

****IF you have any problems in set up or tuning ALWAYS TURN THE KEY SWITCH OFF, this will kill power to the controller.

MODE BUTTON

The center MODE button allows you to move through the three different circuits for tuning.

There are 3 modes for tuning.

************You will need to start and let the machine idle before trying to verify or change settings. DO NOT worry about what you see with the lights by just turning the key on, you NEED TO START AND RUN THE MACHINE

Pressing the MODE button once will bring up the GREEN MODE.
The GREEN MODE changes settings in the O~1/4 throttle position.
In this picture the # 3 green light is shown. YOUR setting may be different.

Pressing the MODE button twice will bring up the YELLOW MODE.
The YELLOW MODE changes settings in the 1/4~3/4 throttle position.

Pressing the MODE button three times will bring up the RED MODE.
The RED MODE changes settings in the 3/4 ~ wide open throttle position.

NOTE: IF you press the MODE BUTTON too fast or too slow the OPTIMIZER will get confused.
Leave the MODE BUTTON alone and in 15 seconds you can start over again.

The BASELINE settings or the settings you make are saved in the OPTIMIZER even if you remove the OPTIMIZER from the machine.

Plus (+) Minus (-) buttons.

The plus/minus buttons allow for changing the settings in the 3 different modes.

Far left is less fuel.
Far right is more fuel.

The OPTIMIZER is pre loaded with the best settings that we found on our dyno per each application.
The OPTIMIZER is adjustable to suit your modifications, elevation and ambient conditions.

START UP

Every time you start your machine the GREEN lights will flash back and forth.
This means everything is working properly.

IF you get a GREEN and RED flashing upon start up you have a bad connection OR a bad ground connection.
Please check all connections.

This ONLY is valid once you try to start the machine.
You may get this when you turn the key on, go ahead and start the machine.

THE FIRST OR GREEN MODE.

You will need to start and let the machine idle before trying to verify or change settings.

Press the MODE button once.
A GREEN light will flash somewhere in the light bar.
For demonstration purposes the light in #4 is shown, YOUR light may be in a different position.
The position of the flashing green light in the light bar shows the fuel position setting.

Each machine will have a specific setting pre loaded into the OPTIMIZER.
These are called baseline settings and can be seen at the end of this thread.

THE FIRST OR GREEN MODE

You will need to start and let the machine idle before trying to verify or change settings.
Press the MODE button once.
A GREEN light will flash somewhere in the light bar.

In some cases you can add a 1/2 light position to the amount of fuel added.

Two lights will flash next to each other.
As in example showing # 3 and #4 lights both flashing.
This would mean this mode is in # 3 1/2 light position.

TO ADD FUEL

You will need to start and let the machine idle before trying to verify or change settings.
Press the MODE button once.
A GREEN light will flash somewhere in the light bar.
In this example light #3.

To ADD FUEL while the GREEN LIGHT is blinking press the (+) BUTTON. The FLASHING LIGHT will move to the right.

In MOST cases we do not suggest you remove fuel (moving the light to the left).

MODE TWO (YELLOW)
MODE THREE (RED)

EVERYTHING you just learned is exactly the same for MODE TWO AND THREE.
You will need to start and let the machine idle before trying to verify or change settings.

*********NOTE*******
To access MODE TWO (YELLOW) press the MODE BUTTON TWICE. The light in the light bar will be YELLOW
To access MODE THREE (RED) press the MODE BUTTON THREE TIMES. The light in the light bar will be RED.

MODES four and five are pre set by HMF, do not move these lights.

These are the HMF OPTIMIZER baseline settings that are pre loaded to each specific application.
YOUR application is pre loaded with the appropriate baseline setting.
