03-05 R6 installation question

Does anyone know why in the installation of the 03-05 R6 exhaust requires the removal of the stock gasket off the header. I just don't understand why a slip on exhaust would require that. I'm not saying i'm an expert on slip on exhausts but i'm just trying to do my research before i buy one and i really like the HMF exhaust. Thanks for your help.

That eliminates any possibility of having to make an extra trip to the Yamaha dealer to get a new gasket because the original got damaged. Our slip on is a very snug fit that wont require a gasket.

so this isn't the header gasket, we're talking about like an exhaust pipe gasket?

correct. It slides over the end of the mid pipe
