Got mine installed and I love it! :p Check it out.

Well fellas,I told you I would report on my new exhaust system when I have it so here go's.

I got it today at work from UPS and opened the box.
It came with every thing that they said it would.(GREEN CAN)
I then came home from work and began to install the product. (REMEMBER) to read the instructions before trying to install whatever you may be doing, which I did!
After installing the main jet and putting the carb in place,I then proceeded to installation of the head pipe which was a breeze! I then went to mount the can onto the headpipe and realized that somthing didn't look right. The mounting bracket on the top of the can would not line up to the mounts on the frame.approximately 6 inches on the stock can and 6 3/4 inches on the new HMF can. After some head scratching ,I decided to call HMF for some tech advice and tell them what I had discovered. The gentlemen who I talked to (Joe) said that I was the first problem like this that they had experienced.Anyway he told me that they have been working alot of overtime and that they were 5 to 7 days behind on orders because of the demand for their products! He felt bad about my situation and told me to please take some didgital pics(Thanks to 300ex rider) and email to them so they could get the problem corrected! In the mean time He told me to ship the can back to them and they would ship me a new can with some different size main jets 5$ apiece( which I had asked for to help cover the shipping cost since UPS will deliver but not pick up from my place of employment) to help cover the shipping return cost which was ok by me (ASAP) on monday or tuesday. To make a long story short I was a little disappointed that my product was not right the first time, but I have confidence that they will make it right with me. As far as looks and quality for the money spent, I feel that it is first rate! So my confidence level is still high ,but I'll just have to wait longer until I can post about my results on the new system.I'll keep you all posted as of my results when I get my new can!

Guess what, It's Sunday morn about 7:30 when I roll out of bed and it's pourin rain outside. So I decide to go to the garage and look at the can again to try to figure out why the d**n thing won't bolt up to the frame! After some yawning and some a$$ scratching I decided to totally dismount everything and start from the beggining.I measured the mounts on the can and found they were exactly the same as the stock can. I'm thinkin to myself that this d**n thing should fit, so I reinstalled the headpipe{leaving it loose for adj, just like the directions said which I did the first time}.Then I slid the can on again and began to play with it trying to get it to mount up properly,All of sudden BAM! the mounts on the can were inline.I couldn't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say it took me about 10 mins. to tighten everything which fit very snug.
Conclusion-I now know that HMF makes very precision fitting components which is why I had trouble the first time trying to install.I did a little testing today playing with the airbox lid off ,on and installing uni-vent filters.
It seem to run the best with lid off for the short time i rode it.I will post later as i get different results and more time to tweek!

Well I finally got to take it on the country road to get a plug check this afternoon. HMF tells you to drill 3 to 5 one inch holes in the lid. I started with 3 which was definately not enough because it was to rich starting at 3/4 throttle,It burbled like hell!So I jumped up to 5,still burbled.I then added one hole at a time till I had 9 holes and it still had a small flat spot at 3/4 throttle!
Now I'm outta room in the lid for anymore holes-keep in mind I had the small uni-filters in each hole.If I would have known this before hand I could have positioned the holes so that at least I could have room for more uni-filters,maybe 12 or 13.Anyway I don't really want to drill any more holes in the side of the airbox which would be my next choice. So I took the lid off again and it pulled strong all the way to rev-limiter which was way quicker than when it was stock! I ran it wide open in 4th gear, hit the kill switch and left the throttle wide open till the engine quit turning. After a few mins.to let cool, I pulled the plug to check it.The plug was nice and clean and looked really good, but it might be just a tad lean on the topend(nothing to get worried about).
I think what I'm going to do is cut out the inside of most of the lid and purchase the outerwears airbox lid cover and then just use the rim of the lid to secure it in place.
I saw this on EX riders .com from some fella that has implemented the idea and he says it works great!
Hopefully after doing this it should make the plug slightly richer which I feel it needs to be.Granted most of the time I won't be riding it like I did to get the plug check, but its better to be on fat side than the skinny!(more tweeking)
I have a 175 MJ which is what they sent me and as far as the 3 to 5 holes, most likely their recomendations were in a controlled enviroment because of the dyno runs. I will tell you that this can is loud, but if you insert the quiet core it really does tone it down (kinda puny).
As far as performance over the stock pipe, night & day difference. much better (especially in the bottom to midrange but pulls hard and much quicker to the rev-limiter. Keep in mind that I'm still running the stock air filter as that's what HMF recommends.I may go to an aftermarket filter soon just to see if it makes any diff.
I know that i may have to go to a 180MJ.I'll keep you all posted with future tweeking.

Got my new Outerwears pre-filter today and installed it with my cut lid cover, fit nice and tight with little trouble. The whole badlands crew is going riding in Attica Ind. this Sat.Will let you know how the pipe & airbox mods perform early next week!

Hey all,

We had a great day of riding with about 500 people their today, got kinda hot though.Anyway my new mods performed as i expected they would.my ride has much more bottom end and midrange than when it was stock!I let 2 of my bud's that have stock "04" KFX's ride mine and they were impressed with the difference from stock exhaust, they are now thinking full aftermarket systems and airbox mods.after riding one of the stock KFX's of one of my bud's,It really felt puny to me,so I think I made a good decision!
I recieved some nice compliments on the looks as well as the performance and awesome throaty sound with the new HMF exhaust. Will try to post some pics in the near future! :D
