Received my QS1 Ecosystem pipe for my Grizzly the other day and I have to say that I am very disappointed in the packaging of the product. It was shipped from Barb of HMF Engineering and I have to say it was in good condition and not damaged so the packaging worked. What irritated me about it was that the inside of the intermediate pipe was packed solid with the green Styrofoam packaging media and also the exhaust end of the can was also packed full of the Styrofoam. The pipe I was able to remove all of the foam and residue but the can I was not able to clean it all out and some remains inside. I am assuming that it is not enough to cause a problem and it will burn up without clogging any of the baffles. When I buy and pay for what I feel is a quality product and receive it in what I consider to be inappropriate packaging it bothers me.
Now in addition to being irritated because of Styrofoam in my exhaust I feel this type of package media is not environmentally friendly. Now I have to admit that I also use foam for some packaging so I am guilty of using non-environmentally friendly packaging as well. The foam that I use is the expandable foam wrapped in plastic bags so at least it is less likely to blow all over the earth.
