If you ride on public or State land I would put the spark arrestor in.

So if im not riding on public or state land the spark arrestor doesnt really make a difference in performance or durability

  It will not make a diff in performance, but you will be less likley to start a fire with it in. And only you can prevent forrest fires:D :D

I have the old style quiet core is the new one better? Does the old style one count as a spark arrestor too?
Should i get the new style one?

The old style core does not have a spark arrestor as part of it. The new style quiet cores do work more efficiently, are spark arrested and retail for only $20.
