Work safe, this procedure requires you to put your hands in tight places, make sure the engine, exhaust system and surrounding areas are cold before starting the removal process.
Make sure you secure the machine in such a way that it cannot be moved or started until you have completed your work.
BEFORE start up, make sure that the exhaust system/slip on (headpipe (s), s-bend (s), muffler (s) are clear of any plastic, electrical, fuel, control cables, hydraulic lines or anything else that high heat of the exhaust system can damage.
*ALWAYS refer to your FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL for specifications, procedures, or for any other information not provided here.
Stock muffler removal:
*Remove the 4 springs at the muffler to headpipe joint. (See picture #1)
*NOTE: a strong rope or electrical wire can be used to remove the springs.
*Slide the muffler back off the wire mounts. (See picture # 2)
*Remove this bolt/nut it will not be re used. (See picture#3)
HMF Slip On installation:
*Position the HMF inlet over the headpipe outlet. (See picture#4)
*Use these holes to mount the new HMF muffler. (See picture#5)
*Use the new hardware supplied to mount the muffler.(See picture # 6)
Allen bolt, through a washer, through the HMF muffler mount tab, through the frame. Backside of frame install the washer the nut and tighten.
*ALWAYS refer to your FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL for specifications, procedures, or for any other information not provided here.
***IMPORTANT NOTE***
Make sure that before you tighten any bolts/clamps that the: (muffler, s-bend connector, s-bend and or headpipe) are clear from any plastic, frame parts, engine, oil/fuel lines,cables or any other part that could come in contact with a hot exhaust system.
**NOTE:Always check the hardware/clamps after your first ride and at every service interval***
***YOU are responsible for the final safety check of YOUR installation.
